Description: American alligators can reach 8 to 15 feet long with the males being larger than the females.

Range: Southeastern US from Texas to North Carolina

Habitat: Lakes, canals, ponds, marshes

Diet:
Wild: Any smaller animal it can catch in its powerful jaws, mostly fish, amphibians, turtles, snakes, rodents.
Zoo: Chicken, carp, deer meat, minnows, and pelleted alligator food

Fun Fact: This animal can usually bite down with a force of 3,900lbs, 10x that of a lion.
