Range: Brazil and Southwestern Surinam
Description: One of the larger of the poison frogs, adults reach a length of 1.75in. Females generally grow slightly larger than males. Bright blue in background coloration, the blue poison frog has characteristically dark blue legs with black spots dotting the back, sides and belly.
Habitat: Isolated pockets of pineland and surrounding rainforests
Zoo: Fruit flies, crickets.
Reproduction: Clutches contain 3-18 eggs, both sexes carry tadpoles on their bodies to shallow water pools for development.
